GR8bit Live! Charity Gaming Convention & Music Festival

“GR8bit Live! started three years ago as an idea that came to me after a conversation with one of my 6th grade students, who at the time was battling the early stages of leukemia, (which is in now in remission!). He mentioned that the hospital had a number of video games, but there were times when they were all spoken for and thus, he couldn’t play. Since I play guitar in a video game cover band, I thought it would be a great idea to host a charity concert with all the proceeds going toward new gaming equipment for The Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. After two successful years, it’s time for GR8bit Live! to level up to the next step.
And that next step is moving the event to The DeVos Place. The other volunteer organizers and I discussed seeking sponsors to cover the operating costs. However, we decided to crowd fund the costs for the first year at The DeVos Place. We believed that if the community raised the funds, it would send a strong message to potential local sponsors for next year. The Kickstarter raised over $6,000. Game on.
The spirit from GR8bit Live! will give much needed energy to the bravest kids in our community. We hope you’ll join us on July 11th.”
